Baptist Health Stroke Survivors Support Group Meeting
to Focus on Nutrition
FORT SMITH, Ark. – Eating a healthy diet after a stroke is a vital part of the recovery process.
Gena Pierce MS, RD, LD, an outpatient dietitian at Baptist Health Nutrition Counseling Center in Fort Smith, will provide education on which foods improve cardiovascular and brain health, as well as boost immunity, during Baptist Health-Fort Smith’s upcoming stroke survivor and caregiver support group meeting.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Baptist Health Glass Classroom on the first floor of the hospital. It is free and open to the public. The goal of this support group is to enable patients and their support systems to surround themselves with other people who understand what they are going through.
The group will meet again on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Volunteer Classroom inside Baptist Health-Fort Smith. December’s topic will focus on the benefits of therapy after a stroke.
If you’d like to attend any of the meetings, please RSVP to Amy Hughes, MSHA, BSN, RN, at amy.hughes@baptist-health.org or (479) 441-4205.
