Breastfeeding Education Classes Offered for Mothers
at Baptist Health-Fort Smith

Baptist Health-Fort Smith will once again offer breastfeeding education classes for River Valley mothers this year.

These free lactation classes are available for any mom in the area interested in breastfeeding their newborn. Classes are held on the third Thursday of the month from 5 p.m. to  7 p.m., in the Nancy Orr Conference Center on the third floor of Baptist Health-Fort Smith.

Breast milk is known to be rich in nutrients and provides health benefits for both mother and baby. Baptist Health’s certified lactation counselors will prepare mothers for positive and successful experiences with breastfeeding by discussing the many benefits of breastfeeding, how to get started, basic techniques and solutions to common problems. It is recommended that mothers bring a support person who will learn these same basic skills and help support the mother during their hospital stay and return to home.

The classes are free, but registration is encouraged. To register for one of the dates listed, visit Baptist-Health.com and click on “Classes and Resources” or call Baptist Health HealthLine at 1-888-BAPTIST for more information.
