Extended Arts Care for Preschoolers (Age 3-5)

EVENT INFORMATION
Extended Arts Care is an after-school arts education program for preschoolers age 3-5. In this program, students are fully immersed in arts activities, including music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and foreign languages. You do not have to be enrolled full time in Preschool for the Creative Arts in order to attend Extended Arts Care. This program meets Monday – Friday from 2:30 – 5:30pm. Tuition is $180/month. Enrollment is now open for the Spring semester!

Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! Presented by CSA’s Children’s Theatre Company. Directed by Cody Walls with Music Director Sheila Mann. Open to students in grades 3-6. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 17 – May 6, 2023 from 4-6pm. Tuition $360. Show dates May 5 & 6 at King Opera House.

Ballet is known as “the foundation of all dance.” It gives dancers a solid understanding of technique which leads to success in other styles of dance. Intro to Ballet and Ballet Technique will build students from the ground up. In the course, students will learn proper technique, terminology, and etiquette. This course is perfect for anyone who is new to dance! Open to students in grades K-2. Class meets on Mondays from 5:30-6:15pm, January 23 – May 8. Tuition: $135.

Come join CSA’s brand-new improv comedy troupe! In this class taught by Instructor Dylan Blackwood, students will learn the ins and outs of Improv Comedy and develop their very own improv comedy show to be performed for the public! Improvisation is one of the key skills that an actor can learn. It can help you get out of sticky situations in a pinch. Open to students in grades 7-12. Class meets on Mondays from 6:30-8pm, January 23 – May 8, 2023. Tuition $200. The troupe will perform a showcase on May 13 at 7pm in the St. Boniface Auditorium.

Pop-Rock Cello Ensemble (Grade 6 – Adult)

EVENT INFORMATION
This Spring, High Bowltage Cello Ensemble will take a yellow submarine for 1000 years until we’re thunderstruck! Open to cello students with at least two years of experience. You do not have to be a private student of Alli Chastain to take this class! Class meets on Mondays from 5:15-6pm from January 23 to April 17. The ensemble will perform a showcase on April 17 at 5:30pm. Tuition $160.

Explore the Artist in You is a class designed to provide an opportunity for art students to explore the fundamentals of two-dimensional design and to work with a variety of traditional and new materials. Emphasis is placed on creating works, which translate personal expression, as well as good, sound design and studio techniques.

Instructor: Sherry Jones. Class meets on Mondays from January 23 – May 1.
Tuition $195.

Grades K-3 meet from 4-5pm.
Grades 4-6 meet from 5:15-6:15pm.

Experience the joy of playing piano together! The piano ensemble will explore duets, group improvisation, and multi-level ensembles. Playing as an ensemble promotes teamwork, community, and musicality. This class is open to piano students with at least 1 year of experience. You do not have to be a private student of Rilla Stone to join the ensemble! Class meets on Mondays from 7-8pm from January 23 to May 8, 2023. Tuition $150.

Sessions will be directed by Rachel Burgos-Griner, a Board-Certified Music Therapist with a passion and joy for working with kids. Concepts such as coping skills, expression, relaxation techniques, and communication are all joined by fun, music, and support. This group will specifically focus on increasing health and quality of life for those who may be experiencing challenges related to, but not limited to, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and social interaction. Individuals who are differently abled are welcome and celebrated! No musical experience required!

Therapy Group meets on Tuesdays 4-5pm from January 24 – April 11.
Tuition $150.

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music and dance. Your child will work on developing physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination, and creativity. EVENT INFORMATION
Spring into piano and “bee” ready to learn something new! Intro to Piano provides homeschoolers with the unique opportunity to learn piano for the first time in a group setting. This class introduces the same fundamentals as in private lessons, but the group setting allows for ensemble playing, team building, and group creativity. Students will learn to play through improvisation, pattern pieces, and introductory reading pieces. They will also build a strong musical foundation through games and activities that introduce rhythm, pitch, and the keyboard.

Classes meet on Thursdays from January 26 – May 11.
Grades K-2 meet from 1-1:45pm (Tuition $125)
Grades 3-6 meet from 1:45-2:45pm (Tuition $150)

EVENT INFORMATION
These weekly group piano classes for homeschoolers will help current piano students to further develop their musical understanding. Group piano develops teamwork and confidence, along with piano skills. This class will feature ensemble playing, improvisation, and music theory. Students will gain an extra boost from this class to succeed at the piano!  This class is open to any student currently enrolled in private lessons, including outside of CSA. All classes meet on Fridays from January 27 – May 12.

Grades 1-3 meet from 1-1:45pm (Tuition $125)
Grades 4-6 meet from 1:45-2:30pm (Tuition $125)
Grades 7-12 meet from 2:30-3:30pm (Tuition $150)

Piano Friends, a group class for young beginners, will provide the extra support and encouragement young beginners need to succeed at the piano! The class will reinforce concepts students learn in private lessons through group games and activities. The additional instruction of a weekly group piano class will help young beginners gain confidence at the piano and boost their musical understanding. Open to all young pianists enrolled in private lessons, including outside CSA. Class meets on Fridays from 3:30-4:15pm from January 27 – May 12. Tuition $125. Instructor: Rilla Stone.

Although it is the most modest toy in the nursery, the Velveteen Rabbit earns the love of a young boy and learns about the joys and pain of becoming “Real.” Directed by Dylan Blackwood. Open to students in grades 3-8. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 4-6pm and Saturdays from 1-3pm, February 1 – April 15. Tuition $215 (or $150 for students currently enrolled in another production at CSA). Performances will be on April 14 and 15 at St. Boniface Auditorium.

Retrosonics Jazz Ensemble (Grades 7-12)

EVENT INFORMATION
In this ensemble directed by Chris and Lolly Swicegood, students will learn to play jazz through a variety of different styles including blues, shuffle, ballad, samba, and rock. Students will play and use improvisation through chordal changes and alternative forms, including rhythm changes, and blues form. Finally, the members of the jazz ensemble will prepare for a concert on April 21 at 6pm. Class will meet from 6-7:30pm on Tuesdays from February 1 – April 18. Open to students in grades 7-12. Tuition $125.

Dost thou wish to be a true Thespian? William Shakespeare is known to be one of the most prolific theatre writers of all time. Learning his works can seem daunting, but this class takes Shakespeare’s text and turns it on its head! In this class, students will learn the art of classical acting from professional actor, Dylan Blackwood. This is Shakespeare… with a twist! Open to students in grades 7-12. Class meets on Thursdays from 6-7pm, March 30 – May 4, 2023. Tuition $125.
