Help celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with the Fort Smith Public Library! Each time you use your library card during the month of September, you’ll be entered to win prizes! The more times you use your library card throughout the month, the better chance you have to win. Don’t have a library card? Fort Smith residents 5 years and older are eligible for a FREE card! Expand your taste buds with our Season Ticket kit. This month’s featured spice blend is Tangerine Hibiscus. The kit, which will be available at the beginning of the month at the library, will feature a sample of the featured spice along with a recipe. Pick up your Season Ticket kit beginning September 3rd at the Main Library. Supplies are limited; don’t wait to get yours!

Candy Guessing Jar

The Dallas Street Branch Library invites customers to guess the number of pieces of candy in the candy jar at the service desk. The closest guess will receive the candy jar! Customers may submit one guess per day during the first two weeks of September. Separate guessing jars will be available for kids and adults. Stop by the library and make your guess today; maybe you will be the winner!

Authors in the Afternoon with Ryan Wight

Local author Ryan Wight will appear at the Main Library to promote and sign copies of his book, Star Brink 1: The Crash. A simple hunting trip for Jack Grives becomes complicated when an alien starship crashes near him. Upon investigation, he discovers the pilot, Fara Fennix and her daughter Felicity need his help. Despite his better judgement, he takes them under his care until they can be rescued. Ryan Wight lives in Alma, Arkansas. A graduate of Alma High School, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Arkansas Tech University. He’s been writing stories for years and recently published his first book, Star Brink 1: The Crash. Copies of his book will be available for sale and signing at the event.

Chocolate – Chocolate – Chocolate! The Friends of the Fort Smith Library will turn the Dallas Branch Library into a Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of sorts as an abundance of chocolate drips throughout the building. Local clubs, businesses and individuals will offer their favorite chocolate samplings to the chocoholics of Fort Smith. Tickets to the festival are $10 for six tastes of chocolate; price includes a to-go-box. Tickets may be purchased at the event or in advance at all FSPL locations and on the library website at www.fortsmithlibrary.org.All proceeds from the Chocolate Festival will be used by the Friends of the Library for special materials and programs at the Library. Helping out never tasted so good!
