Main Street Fort Smith announced today the official launch of the Commerce Collective: A Downtown Business Incubator, and applications are now open for entrepreneurs ready to bring their business to life in downtown Fort Smith.
The four‑month incubator program is designed to activate vacant storefronts, support emerging businesses, and strengthen the economic vitality of downtown Fort Smith. Selected participants will receive base rent support, utilities, and internet during the program term—creating a low‑risk opportunity to test and grow their business in a high‑visibility downtown location.
Applications are being accepted immediately.
A Launchpad for Local Entrepreneurs
Main Street Fort Smith Commerce Collective is built for:
● Start‑ups ready to step into brick‑and‑mortar
● Online businesses ready to expand into retail
● Makers, artists, and specialty retailers
● Entrepreneurs committed to growing in Fort Smith
Participants will be required to operate in the space for a minimum of four months, maintain consistent business hours, and will enter into a six-month lease. They will also receive business development support through the Arkansas Small Business Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) at the UAFS Center for Economic Development.
The program is intended to help businesses validate their concept, build a customer base, and position for long‑term growth.
Activating Downtown Storefronts
Commerce Collective is more than a pop‑up program. It is a strategic investment in downtown activation and small business growth.
The initiative aims to:
● Transform vacant storefronts into active retail spaces
● Increase pedestrian traffic and retail diversity
● Strengthen Fort Smith’s small business pipeline
● Create pathways to permanent lease opportunities
