In celebration of Mother’s Day and to provide added convenience for busy women, Baptist Health Breast Center-Fort Smith will offer Saturday appointment times for breast cancer screenings on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to Noon.
Patients will be able to schedule 3D mammograms and Automated Breast Ultrasound System (ABUS) screenings, a specialized tool for women with dense breast tissue. Both services are designed to support early detection of breast cancer and give patients greater access to critical preventive care.
“Regular screenings are key to early detection, and we want to make it easier for women to prioritize their health,” said Jeff Carrier, president of Baptist Health Fort Smith and Baptist Health-Van Buren. “Offering Saturday hours helps ensure more women have the opportunity to get screened without taking time off from work or other responsibilities.”
Baptist Health recommends women begin annual mammograms at age 40. For those with dense breast tissue—identified in over 40% of U.S. women—additional screenings such as ABUS may be advised. Dense tissue can mask tumors on traditional mammograms, but ABUS technology can help detect cancers that may otherwise be missed.
All mammography reports from Baptist Health include a breast density assessment and are accessible via the MyChart patient portal, enabling women to stay informed and take proactive steps in their health care.
Baptist Health Breast Center-Fort Smith is located at 1500 Dodson Ave., Suite 140. To schedule a screening, call (479) 441-4100, option 3. For more information about breast health services, visit Baptist-Health.com.
