It’s time to grab your fedoras and flip-flops! GetREAL, a program of The Fort Smith Children’s Shelter, along with our 2022 Co-Presenting Sponsors: Cheers Liquor and Trinity Multifamily, invites you to the 9th Annual Havana Nights on Friday, October 7th, 6:30 PM at The Bakery District in Downtown Fort Smith!

This year, we are raising funds and awareness for our program, GetREAL, which supports young adults that will soon age out of the foster care system. The Cuban-inspired event, also known as, Party with a Purpose, will feature Cuban-cuisine by Chef Brooks of Tankersley, a cigar lounge pop-up by Winston’s, The Mixtapes [an after-party 90’s cover band], fourth meal by Taco Bell, Best of Live raffle chance for $100, women’s & men’s jewelry raffle donated by Jon May’s Jewelers, and MORE!

We are grateful for the opportunity to host this event in person as well as online! Yes, you can support our program by downloading the Givi app. We have posted all of our silent auction and store items so you can bid from the comfort of your own home! With our recent program changes, your support means more now than ever!

“Rallying behind our mission to better the chances of success for young adults who have been in the foster care system most of their lives is important because these former “kids” have not had a network of support until they arrive on our campus. Over the course of three years, we prepare our young adults to face the hardships of adulting as well as set them up for financial success,” stated Lauren Pruitt, Fort Smith Children’s Shelter Foundation Director of Development. “Our community plays a huge part in teaching our members various life-skills classes that will break the cycle of dysfunction that our foster youth inherited at no fault of their own.”

All proceeds from Havana Nights will benefit the Children’s Shelter’s program, GetREAL which supports young aging out of care, ages 18-21. Tickets and Tables are now available for purchase on our website https://fschildrensshelter.org/havana-nights-form/ or through the Givi app and include a delicious Cuban dinner as well as cocktails, beer, and wine. Must be 21 to enter the event.

The mission of GetREAL is to create a safe and stable environment where at-risk youth, who are aging out of foster care or have become homeless, learn the fundamentals of adulthood to empower them to overcome the cycle of dysfunction. GetREAL provides healing and guidance, cultivates healthy and life-long relationships, and transforms trauma into hope as each individual realizes their potential to become productive members of society.
