Meteorologist Laura Huckabee returns to KHBS/KHOG, the home of 40/29 News. Huckabee will bring over thirty years of multi-media forecasting experience to 40/29 News Sunrise, the station’s 4:30 – 8:00 a.m. weekday morning newscast.
For nearly ten years Huckabee was a member of the EMMY® award winning 40/29 News Sunrise team. Upon her return to 40/29 she will forecast alongside anchors Yuna Lee and Phil Reed each weekday morning.
In May 2012 Huckabee and the 40/29 news team reported on the recovery in Joplin, Missouri one year after the city was devastated by an EF5 tornado. Additionally, in the spring of 2014, Huckabee and the 40/29 Get Ready Weather team forecasted and reported when Central Arkansas was hit by an EF4 tornado.
“Laura understands weather is the most important element in our morning newscast,” said KHBS/KHOG-TV President and General Manager, Bruce Barkley. “I’m confident from day one viewers will once again enjoy her comfortable delivery and informative local forecasts.” According to 40/29 News Director Colleen Clement, “Laura knows Arkansas weather and the impact it has on viewers. Her return will enhance our Live. Local. Late Breaking. coverage every morning.”
A native of Jonesboro, and graduate of Arkansas State University, Huckabee’s thirty year career includes weathercasting positions at KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, KARK-TV in Little Rock, KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico, KUTV-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah, and WGCL-TV in Atlanta.
You can see Laura weekday mornings from 4:30 – 7:00 a.m. on 40/29 and 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. on sister station, The Arkansas CW beginning in June.
