Methodist Village Senior Living Receives $25,000 Grant for MVSL Park

Aug 8, 2023 | News & Events

Methodist Village Senior Living (MVSL) received a grant of $25,000 from The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas for the MVSL Park.

Founded in 1963, The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas is a nonprofit organization that serves Arkansas Methodist churches, institutions, and individuals. “Our goal is to help extend the connection between faith and finances beyond our lifetime through the prudent and successful management of financial gifts,” said Foundation President and CEO Rev. J. Wayne Clark. In 2022, The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas distributed nearly $6 million to its local church and institutional clients and grant recipients, dramatically impacting the Methodist Church around Arkansas. These distributions included more than $1.8 million awarded to 350 individual grants in high-priority areas like community health, food insecurity, and clergy education.

The MVSL Park will offer a serene green space environment with a walking trail and picnic areas. With the park located directly on the MVSL campus, we know it will be enjoyed by our residents and team members each day.

Residents, Team Members, and Community Members will all have access to the park during open hours. The park will offer a safe trail free of traffic, the perfect place to get out and walk your four-legged best friend; we know this will be enjoyed as neighbors utilize our driveway for an afternoon stroll already. The flexible green space can be used for a friendly (or competitive) game of cornhole, and the picnic areas will provide the perfect place for lunch or some afternoon reading. The park will be in the eyesight of the porches created in Phase III of MVSL’s “Legacy of Faith—Vision for the Future Capital Campaign,” so those residents who can’t visit the park can still enjoy the views.

The park location will utilize the large, wooded area along the right side of our drive, “We have 30 beautiful acres on top of Wildcat Mountain, and we want to utilize every inch!” said Melissa Curry, CEO.

You may have noticed that the park location is already under construction. Clearing out of underbrush has begun, and we hope to open the park next year.

MVSL is seeking additional funding sources for the park. Naming opportunities are available as well.

Our mission is “To provide wonderful life experiences that enable our residents and their families to lead full and enriching lives.” Our vision is “To exceed the expectations of our residents and families while inspiring hearts and minds.”
