Ingredients
- 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
- 1 cup pitted cherries
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 orange, sliced into rounds
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise
- 2-4 Tablespoons agave, honey,or maple syrupOptional
- 1/4 cup brandy (or your favorite liqueur)
- garnish: citrus slices (orange, lemon), more cinnamon sticks, more star anise
Method
Add all ingredients to large pot, heat to simmer over medium-high heat – do not boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes – 2 hours. Strain, serve warm, garnish as desired.
